Highlights from 2007...
Andy Coffin takes the title yet again massing 253 pts
well done Andy, he also takes big credit for brilliant timing of all the fixtures thoughout the year and this is the 8th year on the trot where at least one angler as caught fish. Also a new club record was set in 2007 when the Tessa Cup was contested down at Dungeness on Saturday 22nd of September 7 anglers yes thats right( Seven) fished and caught a stonking 147 lbs in weight. Dennis our Chairman contacted the Dungeness club and looking back into there passed records 19 anglers fished and caught 149 lbs. So if one or two more had fished this event the previous total would have been smashed.

Martin Finch got more than he bargained for when he latched onto a monster smoothound off the Admiralty pier back in july the fish weighed 13lb-6ozs won done Martin nice fish, a picture was taken and independant witnesses were sort so that the fish could be returned unharmed back to the sea. In fact quite a few smoothounds were caught in 2007 and they to were returned to the sea our Chairman Dennis put the scales on the beach so this great fighting fish could all be returned to the sea.

THE BANJO CUP HYTHE SATURDAY 5TH JAN 2008
Last years reigning champion Andy Coffin won The Banjo Cup with a total weight of 4276g 9lb 4oz he had 2 codling and 1 dogfish amongst his catch of 13 fish his biggest Codling went 1226g, runnerup was Simon Stephenson with 2114g 4lb 6oz and 8 fish to include 1 codling 840g, 1 flounder weighing a massive 664g. Third place went to newcomer Trevor Kennedy with a very close 2034g 4lb 4oz he also had 8 fish to include 1 Dogfish of 648g. It was a great turn out 20 anglers fished and weighed in a grand total of 8920g 19lb 6ozs the fishing was a bit hard due to lack of tide so hooking of the fish was hard also, there seem to be a lot of small undersize fish hampering the event throughout the 5 hour contest.
THE PRINCES TROPHY SANDWICH BAY TO DEAL PIER SATURDAY 19TH JAN 2008
Mike Ferrier won the competition with 28 fish weighing 4082g 8lb 9ozs he also had the Heaviest fish a Codling weighing 8.46g, second was Darren Kennedy 3348g ,Third was his brother Trevor Kennedy with 2344g 18 anglers fished and the grand total weight was 28278g 62lbs 2ozs the tide was slight and the sea was slight although weed was a problem for a time also plenty of undersize fish where returned to the sea alive!!!
THE LYDD TROPHY HYTHE SATURDAY 2ND FEB 2008
After travelling to the arranged venue Dungeness it was so packed with anglers the committee discided to go back and fish the competition at Hythe, of which resulted in Andy Coffin winning with 17 fish weighing 2,714g he had a Codling weighing 1,220g. Second was Andy Newell with only 4 fish but in amongst his catch was what turned out to be the heaviest fish of the night a Codling weighing 1,436g 3lb.Third was Alan Fuller with a weight of 1,472g he also had a very nice flounder weighing 464g in very rough sea conditions and plenty of colour in the water 18 anglers accumulated 159 fish weighing a very respectable 17,232g thats 37lbs in total keeping up it's reputation of being the best catch club in the area and currently retains a near 9 year record without a complete blank competition the club also is gaining lots of new members because of the way the club times it's competitions and runs it's competitions.
